Hello,
I am Tina Matthews. I will be your child's Kindergarten Teacher this year. I would like to provide you with some background information regarding my personal life and my professional experience.
I have been married for 14 years to my wonderful husband, Terry. We have been blessed with two beautiful children. Abigail will be in 4th Grade and Aaron will be in the PreKindergarten Class at Horizon. We enjoy spending as much time together as possible. We truly enjoying traveling and exploring this awesome world that God has created for us. We strongly believe in a Christian education and have been very pleased with our time at Horizon.
On a professionl note, I have been in the educational field for 14 years. My experience has been as a Teacher PreK - 4th Grade both in General and Special Education, an Early Childhood Center Director, a Curriculum Consultant, and Commercial Playground Equipment Sales Representative. This will be my second year teaching Kindergarten at Horizon. I also finished the school year for Laura Plantenga's Maternity Leave in 2nd Grade for the 2007-2008 school year.
I graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a BA in Elementary Education. I also have completed 30 additional graduate credit hours in Special Education and Reading. I am currently certified by both Indiana and Florida in Kindergarten - 5th Grade. I am very enthusiastic about teaching and strive to learn the most current strategies and best practices.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of my new students and their families. Thank you for entrusting me with your spectacular children.
